There are 24 provinces that named “oblast” are included into this country, but there are also two urban districts which are considered to be separate provinces: the metropolis of Ukraine – Kiev and Sevastopol. Ukraine has a semi-presidential republic. It has lived through an orange revolution in December 2004. Nowadays the system of government in this country has a very interesting structure: the power is divided between several branches of authority. Ukraine borders on Bulgaria, Romania, Poland, Moldova and Hungary form the west, Turkey form the south; the Russian border is the longest one it is from North and East. The country is in the main treeless plain with mountains in the Crimea and low Carpathian Mountains. River Dnieper flows through the imaginary center of Ukraine and separate it into two approximately identical parts. There is a huge amount of hydroelectric power plants are situated on river Dnieper. Ukraine has got a quite soft climate, so the winters are not so cold there but some rivers and lakes are usually covered by ice. The summers are showery with temperatures frequently going about 30 Centigrade. However, the weather is dry and hot most of the time.

Agriculture is the area that is very developed in that country. It is produced by such favorable climate terms. Actually, Ukraine is considered to be an agricultural region which constantly exports sugar, corn, vegetables and other produces to more than 110 countries. Kiev is one of the oldest cities in Europe. It was established nearly in the 5th century and has got long and amazing history. It was founded as a small trading town and developed into the center of Slavic civilization in the Eastern part of Europe. The decline of growth of Kiev was caused by the Mongolian invasion in the 13th century, the city was fully destroyed for a very long period. Significant impact on the development was produced by the foundation of the Soviet Union. The Ukrainian Soviet Republic helped Kiev to regain prominence. Nowadays the population of Kiev is about 3 million citizens. According to the censuses the population is rapidly growing year after year. Looking from the point of view of nationalities, the capital of Ukraine is very diverse. There are about 130 ethnic groups living in Kiev. The authority of the Soviet Union developed the building of the real estate in Kiev that was the result of extremely increasing population. During the time of the sovereignty Kiev has been developed a lot. Now there are many world-class luxury hotels and chic restaurants among old buildings of the Soviet epoch.

The economy of Ukraine is growing at constant rate. The growth is also reflected in salaries which have also rose in real value about 20 percents per year from 2001 till 2006. All the countries comprised into WTO are pleasantly inviting Ukraine to become a member of this organization.
